Abstract
The effects of divorce on Chinese children's adjustment are reviewed and co ntrasted to American children of divorce. Over the past 20 years there has been a substantial increase in the Chinese divorce rate. The deleterious ef fects of divorce on children's academic and social functioning appear to be similar to that experienced by American children.
