Abstract
A new magnetic position sensor based on colossal magnetoresistances has bee n constructed. The sensor element was La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 thin films patterned in a Wheatstone bridge configuration. It displayed a magnetoresistance of similar to1.27% at 2.6 kOe and a sensitivity of 70.66 muV/V per degree. It has no friction, therefore, this device presents a long life characteristic and does not introduce electrical noise. The experimental results confirm that the properties of these materials are suited for the development of co ntactless potentiometers. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserve d.
