Abstract
Tetrahydropyranyl or methoxymethyl ethers can be easily deprotected by trea tment of-a catalytic amount of scandium trifluoromethanesulfonate along wit h methanol or 1,3-propanediol, respectively, to afford the corresponding pa rent alcohols in high to excellent yields.
