Abstract
beta -Dicarbonyl compounds were easily oxidised with manganese (III) acetat e in acetic acid, to form the corresponding alpha -carboradicals, which att acked alkenes at reflux temperature to give new 5-carbamoyl-dihydrofurans i n good yield.
