Abstract
A model of nonlinear periodic traveling strain waves induced in laser-irrad iated metal plates with quadratic nonlinearity is proposed. Interaction bet ween the elastic strain fields and the concentration of point defects is ta ken into account. The effect of generation-recombination processes on the e volution of nonlinear localized waves is considered. An equation for the am plitudes of the nonlinear waves is derived. It is employed to analyze the a ttenuation of the waves with allowance for low- and high-frequency losses. (C) 2001 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".
