Abstract
The simultaneous removal of atrazine and nitrate in continuous culture unde r denitrifying conditions using Pseudomonas sp. strain ADP was investigated . Under all operational conditions the nitrate removal efficiency was alway s higher than 90%, while atrazine degradation deteriorated with time due to contamination by foreign denitrifying bacteria, lacking the ability to deg rade atrazine. Recovery of atrazine degradation ability was achieved by app lying aerobic conditions with atrazine as the sole nitrogen source. (C), 20 01 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
