Abstract
Muscites amplexifolius sp. nov., from the Upper Carboniferous of Argentina includes branched, densely foliated, moss gametophytes with lanceolate-ovat e or square leaves clasping the stem. Cellular impressions are visible and are polygonal in outline. This species is associated in the swampy deltaic sequence of the Guandacol and Tupe formations with elements of the Nothorha copteris/Botrychiopsis/Ginkgophyllum Flora confirming regular levels of moi sture for the Paganzo Basin.
