Abstract
The long-term impact and safety of radiation for in-stent restenosis is unk nown. We report 2-year clinical follow-up of 50 patients in each of 3 study groups: (1) beta Washington Radiation for In-Stent restenosis Trial (WRIST ) (90-yttrium), (2) gamma radiation arm (iridium-192) of WRIST, and (3) pla cebo arm of WRIST. Baseline clinical, angiographic, and procedural characte ristics were similar between groups. Target vessel revascularization and co mposite major adverse cardiac events were significantly reduced with radiat ion therapy using 90-yttrium and iridium-192 for in-stent restenosis with a n acceptable safety profile at 2 years.
