Abstract
A checklist of the benthic marine plants of the archipelago of Madeira is p resented based on published information and personal observations. This lis t includes I Spermatophyte and 359 algal species, comprising 64 Chlorophyco ta. 64 Chromophycota and 231 Rhodophycota. Fifteen doubtful records for the area are also included.
