Abstract
Mass, velocity and angle distributions of the ablated species generated fro m 355 nm pulsed laser ablation (PLA) of a LiCoO2 target were investigated w ith an angle- and time-resolved quadrupole mass spectrometric technique. Th e observed neutral and ionic ablated species include Li, Co, LiO, CoO, LiO2 , CoO2, and clusters L-4, Li2O, Li5O. The kinetic energies of Li, Co and Li O ions are independent of the laser fluence. The angular distributions of t he ablated species can be simulated by a cos " theta or a bicosine function alpha cos theta + (1 - alpha) cos(n) theta, respectively. (C) 2001 Elsevie r Science B.V.
