Structural genomics: opportunities and challenges

Following the complete genome sequencing of an increasing number of organis ms, structural biology is engaging in a systematic approach of high-through put structure determination called structural genomics to create a complete inventory of protein folds/structures that will help predict functions for all proteins, First results show that structural genomics will be highly e ffective in finding functional annotations for proteins of unknown function .
