M. Sharpe et B. Jarvis, Inhaled mometasone furoate - A review of its use in adults and adolescentswith persistent asthma, DRUGS, 61(9), 2001, pp. 1325-1350
Sources: Medical literature published in any language since 1980 on mometas
one, identified using Medline and EMBASE, supplemented by AdisBase (a propr
ietary database of Adis International, Auckland, New Zealand). Additional r
eferences were identified from the reference lists of published articles. B
ibliographical information, including contributory unpublished data, was al
so requested from the company developing the drug.
Search strategy: Medline search terms were ('mometasone' or 'mometasone fur
oate' or 'SCH 32088') and 'asthma'. EMBASE search terms were ('mometasone'
or 'mometasone furoate' or 'momethasone furoate' or 'SCH 32088') and 'asthm
a'. AdisBase search terms were ('mometasone' or 'mometasone furoate' or 'SC
H-32088') and 'asthma'. Searches were last updated 19 June, 2001.
Selection: Studies in patients with persistent asthma who received mometaso
ne. Inclusion of studies was based mainly on the methods section of the tri
als. When available, large, well controlled trials with appropriate statist
ical methodology were preferred. Relevant pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinet
ic data are also included.
