Ml. Yang et al., The measurement of thermal conductivity of alcohols from 0 to 80 degrees Cby the transient technique, HEAT MASS T, 37(4-5), 2001, pp. 507-509
The thermal conductivities of n- octanol, n- nonanol and n-decanol were mea
sured in the temperature range from 0 to 80 degreesC, by means of a compute
r-controlled transient calorimeter. The relations of the thermal conductivi
ties of the three alcohols to temperature were derived as lambda (mW/mK) =
A - Bt, where A are 165.8, 167.8 and 169.4 mW/mK and B are 0.273, 0.287 and
0.293 mW/mK(2) for n-octanol, n-nonanol and n-decanol, respectively. The r
esults obtained in this work is much better than the values reported in lit
erature due to the calorimeter being considered to be able to eliminate the
effects of convection and radiation.
