A 23-year-old female presented with two episodes, 4 years apart, of acute c
hest pain and on both occasions with inferior ST elevation suggestive of ac
ute inferior MI. She was found to have mild mitral stenosis and was in sinu
s rhythm. We believe that recurrent coronary embolisms were responsible and
that this should be considered especially in trying to define the cause of
MI in young females. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. All rights res
