Abstract
Giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect has been observed in glass-coated amorp hous Co83.2Mn7.6Si5.8B3.3 microwire. The magnetoimpedance (MI) of this samp le has been studied up to a frequency of 11 MHz and varying a dc magnetic f ield (H-dc) within +/- 140 Oe. A maximum change of 53% in MI has been obser ved around a frequency of 4 MHz. The application of an external stress chan ges the MI results to a large extent. The magnetization of the same sample has also been measured in the presence of different tensile stresses to und erstand the domain structure and magnetoimpedance results.
