Abstract
A general boundary integral equation method has been implemented to ca lculate the mode propagation in and the plane wave scattering at perio dic and nonperiodic two-dimensional structures. The method includes th e use of multiple-region structures with arbitrary geometry, each cons isting of uniaxial bianisotropic material and the calculation of relev ant output parameters such as radar cross sections, diffraction effici encies, and propagation constants. Numerical examples illustrate the g enerality and power of the applied method.
