Abstract
This paper discusses the variations of the optical properties of vanadium o xide films at a wavelength of 10.6 mum when they undergo high-temperature o xidation in air. A model is proposed that describes the oxidation process, taking into account the structural features of the film. and the formation of intermediate oxides. It is shown that a three-component composite layer that affects the optical properties of the film arises in the film during o xidation. (C) 2001 The Optical Society of America.
