Objectives/Hypothesis. Arteriovenous malformations involving the external e
ar are relatively uncommon in adults. Arteriovenous malformations in the he
ad and neck can poses difficult therapeutic challenges. Study Design: Case
report. Methods. We report a case of a large arteriovenous malformation in
the external ear in a 41-year-old man. Results. Extensive enlargement of th
e previously latent and asymptomatic arteriovenous malformation was trigger
ed by blunt trauma to the ear. Conclusion: We discuss the definition, clini
cal findings, diagnostic approaches, and therapeutic management of arteriov
enous malformations.
