An alloy based on NiAl has been deformed under isothermal conditions, to in
vestigate the possibility of hot working as a processing route for such mat
erials. Deformation has been shown to occur largely via dynamic recovery, a
lthough some evidence of recrystallisation has been noted. Material propert
ies (strain rate sensitivity, activation energy of deformation, etc.) have
been calculated and used in a constitutive algorithm to model successfully
the forging behaviour of this material under all the conditions examined he
