Abstract
A germanosilicate fibre (7mol.% GeO2) codoped with nitrogen has been f abricated by the surface plasma CVD process. The fibre has demonstrate d a photoinduced refractive index change of 2x10(-3) at an irradiation dose of 75kJ/cm(2) and a wavelength of 244nm without hydrogen loading , and an index change of 1x10(-2) after hydrogen loading.
