Abstract
Few specialties in medicine have witnessed such dramatic changes in the twe ntieth century as cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. Women of reproduct ive age and pregnant women have undoubtedly benefited from these advances. This article discusses the implications of cardiac disease and its therapie s for each stage of pregnancy, including delivery, and touches on postpartu m considerations.
