Abstract
Cardiopulmonary adaptations of pregnancy reduce respiratory and cardiac res erve and, in the setting of pneumonia, can lead to maternal decompensation. Such decompensation can culminate in fetal compromise, preterm labor, and delivery. This article reviews the incidence, etiology, pathophysiology, di agnosis, treatment, and complications related to pneumonia in pregnancy.
