Abstract
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a frequently encountered complication of pr egnancy. The signs and symptoms of VTE are neither sensitive nor specific, and most occur in patients without recognizable risk factors, making the di agnosis difficult. Given the significant morbidity associated with the sequ elae of VTE, namely pulmonary embolism, prompt diagnosis and appropriate tr eatment are of paramount importance.
