V. Ziegler et al., Bleeding complications in combined treatment with clopidrogel and low-doseheparin in stroke patients, PERFUSION, 14(7), 2001, pp. 259-262
The present prospective cohort-study aimed at evaluating complications in c
ombined treatment of clopidogrel and low-dose-heparin in stroke patients. T
hirty-four patients with 1497 days of supervised medication were included.
We explored and protocolised all haemorrhagic complications in our series.
There were three clinical relevant haemorrhagic complications (2 gastrointe
stinal and I urogenital bleeding) and not clinical relevant changes in bloo
d count and blood dotting (2 increases of thrombocytes, 8 increases of dime
ric D-fragments, I increase of PTT and 1 decrease of haemoglobin). We saw o
ne thrombembolic complication (re-stroke). According to the literature we f
ound no significant difference between haemorrhagic complications with clop
idogrel alone or in combination with lowe-dose heparin. None of treated pat
ients showed thrombocytopenia. Also no severe venous thrombembolic events w
ere identified. Our preliminary data show, that a combination of clopidogre
l and lowe-dose heparin after stroke (they have a high risk for thrombembol
ic events because of their disability) has not the consequence of increased
haemorrhagic complications.
