The reaction of Cp*GaCl2 with Na2W2(CO)(10) yield [Cp*GaW(CO)(5)], whereas
the reactions with KCo(CO)(4) lead to the ionic complexes [{Co-2(CO)(6)(mu
-CO)[(2)(mu (4)-Ga)](-) and [[Co-2(CO)(6)(mu -CO)}(mu -Ga(Cl)}Co(CO)(4))].
In contrast, Cp*2GaCl reacts with KCo(CO)(4) to give [Co-2(CO)(6)(mu -GaCp*
)(2)](-). With K[(CO)(2)CpFe] the complex [(CpFe(CO)) (2)(mu -CO)(mu -GaCp*
)] is formed. The results show, that both starting materials offer an alter
native synthetic route to subvalent Ga(I) compounds via reductive dehalogen
ation.
