R. Rawat et I. Das, Magnetic transitions in CeCu0.86Ge2 and PrCu0.76Ge2 as studied by magnetocaloric effect - art. no. 052407, PHYS REV B, 6405(5), 2001, pp. 2407
The results of heat capacity in the presence of an external magnetic field
and resistivity measurements on the compounds CeCuxGe2 and PrCuyGe2 with th
e starting x = 0.86 and y = 0.76 are reported. The magnetocaloric effect in
the compounds was calculated from in-field heat-capacity data. The results
clearly indicate the nature of magnetic transitions in both compounds and
the metamagnetic transition with field in the cerium compounds, The observe
d magnetocaloric effect is modest in spite of much smaller magnetic moment
of Ce and Pr compared to heavy rare earths.
