Abstract
A brown liquid oxovanadium(V) alkoxide [VO(OCH(CH3)CH2OCH3)(3)](n) was prep ared by heating under reflux ammonium metavanadate with alcohol and toluene . The exchange processes between monomer and oligomers in pure or diluted m edium were observed by dynamic V-51 NMR study. The compound reacted with ma gnesium 1-methoxy 2-propanoxide to yield in situ a heterobimetallic alkoxid e, which is used in the synthesis of a vanadium-magnesium oxide catalyst. T extural and structural properties of the resulting oxide have been presente d. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
