Abstract
A dynamic mathematical model was developed for the simulation and control o f rotary lime kilns. The lime kiln is modelled using 66 continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTRs) in series with 13 ordinary differential equations (OD ES) and eight algebraic equations per CSTR approximation. Open-loop simulat ions show that the steady-state and dynamic behaviour of the model are in a greement zth the results presented in the literature. The model is suitable for simulation and control studies as well as for optimization and design.
