Abstract
The electronic absorption spectra of 5-(substituted phenylazo) thiobarbitur ic acid compounds in the presence of different solvents are analyzed by the multiple regression technique using the equation: Y = a(0) + a(1)x(1) + a( 2)x(2) + a(3)x(3) + ... The constants a(1), a(2), a(3), ... are the differe nt regression coefficients and the constant a(0) is the regression intercep t. The multiple regression coefficient (R) and probability of variation (P) have been calculated by multiple linear analysis. The data are explained f rom the views of different solvent parameters beside the electronic charact er of the substituents.
