Symptom-related indication of various IPP treatment methods

There is still a lot of controversy regarding the most effective therapy fo r IPP. Results from our investigations suggest that due to the course of th e disease the intended therapy should be individualised. In such a case pat ient's symptoms strongly influence the kind of therapy. if pain is the lead ing symptom we favour ESWT in combination with the systemic application of vitamin E. A severe deviation in younger patients is operatively corrected. If the IPP is associated with a permanent erectile dysfunction a penile pr othesis is indicated.
