Abstract
We have compared radio images from the Australia Telescope Compact Array an d X-ray images from ROSAT of an area about 560 pc in diameter around the ve ry extended emission nebula N19 on the southwestern edge of the bright ridg e of the Small Magellanic Cloud. These data have allowed us to identify ten tatively seven supernova remnants in this region. This number is large enou gh to suggest that the area has recently undergone some starburst activity. N19 itself appears to contain two overlapping supernova remnants within th e extended H II region.
