These t erms are intended to provide clear communication among otorhinolaryngo logists worldwide and serve as a basis for discussion among anatomists . Terminology is based on Latin nomenclature. An attempt has been made to reconcile or eliminate duplication, redundancy, and overlap in ter minology that have arisen over the past century.
