THE ELECTROMAGNETIC-FIELD IN A UNIFORMLY MOVING CRYSTAL

We prove that Maxwell's equations, in a uniaxial crystal uniformly mov ing in the direction of its principal axis of symmetry, can be put in a form tractable with conventional methods. We also discuss the disper sion relations for harmonic plane waves: two types of waves correspond ing to the ordinary and extraordinary waves of the stationary case can propagate in a uniformly moving crystal.
