Glenoid labral cysts, which are ganglion cysts of the shoulder, can cause e
ntrapment of the suprascapular nerve, resulting in shoulder pain and muscle
weakness(1-4). Treatment for compression of the infraspinatus branch of th
e suprascapular nerve has included (1) rest, nonsteroidal antiinflammatory
medication, and physical therapy(2,5); (2) open excision of the cyst; (3) a
rthroscopic decompression of the ganglion and repair of the posterior-super
ior capsulolabral complex(2,6,7); and (4) ultrasound or computed tomography
-guided aspiration(1,8). We successfully performed needle aspiration of a l
abral cyst of the spinoglenoid notch with use of a new interactive magnetic
resonance image-guided method.
