J. Badziak et S. Jablonski, ON THE POSSIBILITY OF GENERATION OF ULTRASHORT PULSES IN SHORT-GAIN-DURATION LASERS BY FAST MODE-LOCKING USING AN ELECTROOPTIC DEFLECTOR, Pure and applied optics, 6(3), 1997, pp. 13-18
Fast mode locking with the use of an electro-optic deflector-a novel m
ethod for production of ultrashort pulses (USPs) in short-gain-duratio
n lasers-is briefly described and discussed. The potential of this met
hod is demonstrated by using numerical simulation of USP generation ta
king a KrF laser as an example. It is shown that pulses of several pic
oseconds in duration can be produced with this method at a gain durati
on of only 50 ns, i.e. the pulses can be two orders of magnitude short
er than those attainable with conventional mode locking. Some properti
es of USP generation with the use of an electro-optic deflector are de
scribed.
