Chondroid metaplasia in a fibroepithelial polyp of the tongue

This report describes the development of chondroid metaplasia within a fibr oepithelial polyp situated on the tongue. Although fibroepithelial polyps i n this location are not unusual, chondroid metaplasia in such a lesion in t his position has not, as far as the authors are aware, been described previ ously. The aetiology and the pathogenesis of the lesion are discussed.
