Abstract
This paper reports the studies on the solid state synthesis, densification, microstructure and ion conductivity of double substituted Bi4V2O11 (Bi2V0. 9Cu0.05Ti0.05O5.4). Differential thermal and X-ray analysis indicate that s ynthesis of the compound can be accomplished at 620-650 degreesC, and the r oom temperature phase is the tetragonal gamma form of Bi4V2O11. Samples wit h more than 95% theoretical densities were obtained after sintering at 810 degreesC for several minutes or 750 degreesC for a few hours. The report al so includes examination of the microstructure as well as evaluation of the electrical properties with respect to temperature and samples grain size. ( C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
