Abstract
Prostate brachytherapy using (125)iodine (I-125), with the addition of exte rnal beam radiation in select patients, provides excellent long-term diseas e control. The majority (75%) of disease recurrence cases are confirmed wit h a positive biopsy, on radiography or with consecutive prostate specific a ntigen (PSA) increases within the first 5 years of treatment. We report a c ase of metastasis in the original tract of the I-125 implantation 8 years a fter treatment.
