This work is dedicated to the theoretical modelling of the eddy curren
t transducer with orthogonal coils destined to control flat metallic s
urfaces. The exact solutions of the Maxwell equations for the assembly
transducer-conductive half-space are obtained by modelling the curren
t source by a Dirac distribution and using the dyadic Green functions
of the problem. Theoretical solutions are presented describing the tra
nsducer operation in the presence of a discontinuity in the conductive
