Abstract
This work is dedicated to the theoretical and experimental study of a new type of eddy current transducer developed to measure the thickness of the metallic protective coating on ferromagnetic steel wires. The transducer is of send-receive type. The emission part generates a rota ting magnetic field while the reception part consists of a number of c oils surrounding the wire. The transducer is connected to an eddy curr ent control installation with rotating magnetic field of multiplied in put stages. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
