In this paper elements of chaos theory art applied to the study of the
dynamics of a previously proposed model for a 180 degrees Bloch wall
under the action of an alternating magnetic field in materials without
nonferromagnetic inclusions. The new element brought to these studies
is the comparison between the powers of the chaotic and controlled os
cillations. This comparison implied firstly the design of a method for
finding periodic orbits and then the setting of a chaos control metho
d. A parametric method was chosen. in which a control parameter propor
tional to the field's amplitude was used, and which offers more possib
ilities than that of a previously reported work. The existence of peri
odic orbits with smaller dissipation than that of the chaotic trajecto
ry is proved. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
