Abstract
A new triterpenoidal saponin, echinocystic acid 3-O-beta -D-glucopyranosyl- (1 --> 3)-alpha -L-arabinopyranoside (1), was isolated from Ixeris sonchifo lia. Its structure was elucidated on the basis of full spectral data analys is and chemical methods. The cytotoxic activity of compound I was evaluated using the tumor cell lines of A375, Hela, and L929 in vitro.
