Abstract
The solidification of a binary alloy has been studied during the stead y-state movement of the two-phase region (the heterogeneous region at the liquid-solid interface) and taking into account the concentration dependence of the phase densities. The latter effect is especially imp ortant for the alloys of heavy and light metals having considerably di fferent solubilities of impurity in liquid and solid states.
