Transport E-J characteristics in YBCO thin films have been studied as a fun
ction of temperature, T, magnetic field, B, and its angle, theta, under hig
h magnetic fields up to 23 T. We carried out detailed measurements for the
extended E-J characteristics at various T, B and theta. Analyzing the data
within the framework of the percolation model, we extracted the factors rel
ated to the statistical distribution of critical current density, J(c). It
is shown that if we assume that the scaling property and the angular depend
encies of transition field, B-GL, hold down to 55 K, B-GL is estimated to b
e as high as 96 T in parallel field. The wide range measurements allow us t
o reveal the high potential of this material especially in high magnetic fi
eld region. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
