Yj. Kao et al., History-dependent phenomena in the transverse Ising ferroglass: The free-energy landscape - art. no. 060402, PHYS REV B, 6406(6), 2001, pp. 0402
In this paper we investigate the relationship between glassy and ferromagne
tic phases in disordered Ising ferromagnets in the presence of transverse m
agnetic fields, Gamma. Iterative mean-field simulations probe the free-ener
gy landscape and suggest the existence of a glass transition as a function
of Gamma which is distinct from the Curie temperature. Experimental field-c
ooled and zero-field-cooled data on LiHoxY1-xF4 provide support for our the
oretical picture. Here as well we present a collection of theoretical predi
ctions for future experiments.
