A new method is suggested for calculating the charge and mass distributions
of quasifission products. The quasifission is treated within a transport m
odel describing the evolution of a dinuclear system in charge (mass) asymme
try and the decay of this system along the internuclear distance. The calcu
lated yields of these products are in agreement with recent experimental da
ta for the hot fusion reactions leading to superheavy nuclei. The quasifiss
ion distributions in cold Pb-based fusion reactions are predicted.
