We study the dynamics of a Green-Schwarz superstring on the gravitational w
ave background corresponding to the matrix string theory and the supersymme
try transformation rules of the superstring. The dynamics is obtained in th
e light-cone formulation and is shown to agree with that derived from matri
x string theory. The supersymmetry structure has corrections due to the eff
ect of the background and is identified with that of the low-energy one-loo
p effective action of matrix string theory in a two superstring background
in the weak string coupling limit.
