The fully automatic blast furnace : only a vision?

A closed-loop blast furnace automation system was jointly developed by VOES T-ALPINE Industrieanlagenbau (VAI) and VOEST-ALPINE Stahl Linz (VASL). The system, with the tradename VAiron, makes not only the operation of the blas t furnace entirely transparent, but stabilizes it also, and permits therefo re significant improvements in the regularity of hot metal quality and subs tantial reductions in production costs. The final goal of the development i s the "fully automatic blast furnace".
