The formation of charge transfer complexes between chlorine dioxide and nit
roxyl radicals (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-oxyl, 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetr
amethylpiperidin-1-oxyl, 4-oxo2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-oxyl, 4-methox
y- 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-oxyl, 4-acetyl-amido-2,2,6,6-tetramethylp
iperidin-1-oxyl, 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-4-phenyl-3-imidazolin-1-oxyl, and bis(
4-methoxyphenyl) nitroxide) in acetone, acetonitrile, n-heptane, diethyl et
her, carbon tetrachloride, toluene, and dichloromethane was found by spectr
ophotometry at -60-+20 degreesC. The thermodynamic parameters of complex fo
rmation were determined. The radical structure affects its complex formatio
n ability. The charge transfer complex is transformed into the correspondin
g oxoammonium salt.
