Abstract
The electrophilic iodination of 1-carba-7-phosphadodecaborane to an iodo-1- carba-7-phosphadodecaborane was studied. The formation of 9,10-diiodo-1-car ba-7-phosphadodecaborane was confirmed by an X-ray diffraction study (space group C2/s, Z 8, R 3.32%). Possible reasons for the statistical disorder i n the crystal structure were discussed. The NMR spectra of the product were studied.
